Become a Civic Fellow

Leading for Results is an engaging, two-week program for leaders with a growth mindset who want to embrace change and make a difference. This program will change you—professionally and personally. Are you ready?

WHO should apply? Local government professionals throughout North Carolina who are in leadership positions and looking to advance their leadership roles. These include managers and assistant managers, administrators, department heads and senior staff, assistants and directors, and executives.

WHY should you apply? You are ready to invest in your growth as a leader. You want to make a more significant difference to your team, organization, and the community you serve.

Why a “COHORT”? You will not just attend a course. You will become part of a group of dedicated professionals who learn and grow together. The small cohort size allows for a diverse group of leaders to come together, network, and learn in a supportive and close-knit setting. Two cohorts of 25 are selected each year and spend two intensive weeks together in the Leading for Results program.

How to Apply

The application window is from mid-April to mid-June each year.

Applications are now open and due Friday, June 14, 2024.

Complete and submit your application.

Step 2

Your manager or supervisor must complete a Letter of Support form.

You can either submit it with your application, upload it later using the link in your application confirmation email, or you or your manager or supervisor can upload it as an attachment to Ling Rudicil at lrudicil@sog.unc.edu.

Attendance

Participants must attend all sessions and events, including some evening events. Full participation is needed for participants to get the most out of this experience.

Cost

Through the generous support of Civic Federal Credit Union, participants attend Leading for Results tuition-free. Participants’ organizations pay for hotel and travel expenses to attend the program in Chapel Hill.
